Sunny San Diego will be the hottest place in the medtech universe this September 1–2, when industry luminaries gather at the San Diego Marriot Marquis and Marina for the 2015 MEDevice San Diego Conference and Showcase.

Now in its fifth year, the show features a number of educational and networking opportunities you won’t want to miss. Here are a few we recommend checking out.

Conference Sessions
 

The MEDevice San Diego Conference is chock full of sessions on timely topics that matter to medtech professionals. Attendees will come away with practical advice on topics such as maximizing health outcomes and reimbursement, navigating the 510(k) review process, and identifying hospital needs. They can also choose to attend specialty tracks focused on product development—including 3-D printing tips and Internet of Things considerations—or business development—featuring advice on securing funding and combining consumer and medical technology.

Design Workshop

You won’t just be a passive observer at an innovative design workshop put on by global design firm IDEO. In this hands-on half-day session, the award-winning design shop will share its secrets for bringing compelling, human-centered design to medical devices. You’ll learn how to brainstorm creative solutions to problems, develop rapid prototypes to test concepts, and examine case studies of real products to learn how their creators set them apart through design.

Startup Spotlight

Attendees of the business development conference track will get to hear three California medtech startups make their cases to a panel of shrewd financiers in an afternoon pitch-off. Venture capitalists from three leading firms—Fjord Ventures, Correlation Ventures, and Domain Associates—will grill the startups on why they should fund their endeavors in this must-see session for any would-be medtech entrepreneurs.

Technology Showcase

Dozens of medtech suppliers will be on hand to show off their services and solutions at the MEDevice San Diego Technology Showcase. This is the perfect opportunity to meet face-to-face with vendors, try out their technologies, and explore potential partnerships.

Networking Opportunities

Gathering medtech professionals from Southern California and beyond, MEDevice San Diego also gives attendees the chance to rub shoulders with their industry peers. An organized networking drinks reception will take place at the close of the first day’s conference sessions and Technology Showcase, but there will also be plenty of opportunities to set up informal meetings of your own.
