One-term Democratic incumbent Scott Peters and Republican challenger Carl DeMaio are duking it out to represent this important Congressional district that represents parts of the biotech hub in San Diego County.

Peters introduced a House Bill last year to increase the use of wireless health technologies and at a candidate forum in October voiced his support for repeal of the device tax. In the same forum, DeMaio stressed the need for a quicker FDA and fewer frivolous lawsuits that drive up healthcare costs. DeMaio has also voiced support for eliminiating the device tax.

In the most recent poll available, DeMaio led Peters by one point, according to Real Clear Politics.
