10 Hot Devices We Can't Get in the U.S.—Medtronic's Micra TPS

Medtronic's Micra TPS

Medtronic's Micra Transcatheter Pacing System (TPS) is a leadless pacemaker that is implanted into the heart using a transcatheter procedure.

Micra TPS received CE Mark in April 2015 and is the smallest pacer in the world. It was not the first leadless pacer to be approved, however—that distinction lies with St. Jude Medical's Nanostim.

Management has said a U.S. launch of Micra is expected in the company's 2017 fiscal year (May 2016–April 2017).
