10 Digital Health and Medtech Startups That Shone at SXSW—MUrgency

MUrgency allows users to summon an emergency response via a quick tap of their smartphone or automated alerts from a wearable device or sensor. The San Francisco-based company created the MUrgency app to allow those who need help to reach emergency professionals, medical caregivers, family, and friends, as well as other MUrgency users.

Beyond the emergency-related capabilities, users can also employ the app to book doctors’ appointments, arrange for care or therapy at home, and get free advice from physicians, according to the company’s website.

MUrgency was named the winner of the Health and Wearable Technologies category in the 2016 SXSW Accelerator pitch competition.
