Medtech startups looking for a way to gain recognition in the industry may want to throw their hat into the ring, so to speak, for an annual startup competition hosted by the Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2).
The M2D2 $200K Challenge is focused on identifying and rewarding disruptive medtech and biotech companies. Up to 20 finalists will become eligible to win a share of the $200,000 purse of sponsor-provided, in-kind services. Such services include lab and office space, or engineering, product development, legal, regulatory, clinical, and business services.
M2D2 said it welcomes innovations that address the full range of medical device challenges, and this year the organization is especially interested in ideas that can benefit from its association with the Barda DRIVe initiative.
BARDA’s DRIVe aims to empower people and give them a greater role in their health outcomes. It is actively seeking better ways to detect threats, point-of-use indicators, biological and physiological sensing technologies.
The entry deadline is Feb. 18 and finalists will be announced March 6. There will be a finalist pitch competition March 27 and winners will be announced during an awards ceremony April 10. For other dates and competition information, click here.
