Stryker has created 600 high-tech jobs in Ireland this year with the opening of its 3D printing facility in Anngrove, a neighborhood in the city of Cork.

The orthopedic device maker has become known as a leader in the application of additive manufacturing technologies, or 3D printing, particularly for the manufacture of specialized medical devices.

In addition to housing Stryker’s manufacturing facilities, Anngrove is also the worldwide headquarters of the AMagine Institute, which is the center of excellence for additive manufacturing across Stryker. The institute develops breakthrough technologies, from early research and development to full commercial launch and scaling, and deploys these new technologies across its full portfolio of products and services.

Industrial Developmental Agency (IDA) Ireland CEO Martin Shanahan praised the company for its innovation in additive manufacturing within medtech and for opening its Anngrove facility in 2016.
