Cleveland Clinic Turns Spotlight on Orthopedics

The 2005 Cleveland Clinic Medical Innovation Summit: Bench to Bedside and Back, being held October 24–26, will immerse industry professionals in three days of discussion and analysis of the latest trends and developments in the orthopedic sector.

The summit, now in its third year, will convene more than 800 industry executives, investors, and clinicians at the Cleveland Clinic, where featured topics will range from new products that are shaping the orthopedic market to trends in federal policy and their impact on the sector.

“The orthopedic and spine market is growing by more than 20% per year,” says Christopher Coburn, executive director of CCF Innovations, the technology transfer and commercialization arm of the Cleveland Clinic. “With the advance of new orthopedic technologies and procedures, including new spine implants, there is increased priority on the development and cost of these technologies and their benefit to patients.

“The summit will cover shifts in clinical approaches and how that translates into new areas of potential opportunity for folks on the private-equity side,” he adds.
