Pathwork Diagnostics Inc. Appoints Lee McCracken as CEO
Pathwork Diagnostics Inc., the creator of the Pathwork Tissue of Origin Test and a creator of genomics-based diagnostics in oncology, has announced the appointment of Lee R. McCracken as chief executive officer. McCracken, who serves on the company’s board of directors, has over 20 years of experience in the life sciences, spanning novel high-value diagnostics, specialty pharmaceuticals, and platform technologies in both private and public companies. He joins Pathwork following seven years as corporate head of business development at Prometheus Laboratories, a personalized healthcare company in gastroenterology and oncology. AtriCure Names Michael H. Carrel President and Chief Executive Officer
AtriCure Inc., a medical device company and provider of cardiac surgical ablation systems for the treatment of atrial fibrillation and systems for the exclusion of the left atrial appendage, has announced that Michael Carrel has been appointed president and CEO of the company. Carrel was most recently the president and chief executive officer of Vital Images, a medical imaging software company, from 2008 until it was sold to Toshiba in 2011. He stayed on as chief executive officer of the new business unit within Toshiba until 2012 when the integration was successfully completed. [AtriCutre]
Dr. David M. Barrett Joins ProUroCare Board of Directors
ProUroCare Medical Inc., a provider of proprietary medical imaging products, has elected Dr. David M. Barrett, MD to its board of directors. Barrett is the former president and CEO of the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA, one of the largest medical centers in New England. In addition to his urology practice, Barrett currently sits on the board of directors of Advantedge Healthcare Solutions Inc., CR Bard Inc., Commonfund Inc., Sapphire Systems Inc. and Juliet Marine Inc. Eugene Myers and Marshall Strome Appointed Co-Chairs of Medrobotics’ Medical Advisory Board
Medrobotics, a medical robotics company developing the Flex Robotic System,a robotic assist platform that enables surgeons to gain single-site access and visualization to difficult-to-access anatomical locations, has appointed Eugene N. Myers, M.D., and Marshall Strome, M.D., as co-chairmen of the company’s worldwide medical advisory board. Dr. Eugene N. Myers is distinguished professor and emeritus chair of the department of otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He has written 259 articles and has published many books, the most notable of which is Cancer of the Head and Neck together with Dr. James Y. Suen, now considered the standard textbook on this topic.
Dr. Marshall Strome is the immediate past professor and chairman of the Cleveland Clinic Head and Neck Institute. In 1998, Strome performed the world’s first total human laryngeal transplant; and in 2005, he performed the world’s first robotic laser excision of a laryngeal malignancy. In addition to more than 200 publications and several books, Strome was one of a select group of physicians recognized at the millennium by the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery for their contributions to medicine in the last 250 years.
