FDA Continues Probe into Radiation Overdoses

Remember the brouhaha a little while ago about patients receiving excess doses of radation from CT scanners? Earlier this week, FDA announced that it was going to start requiring manufacturers of those machines, as well as other imaging devices, to incorporate safety controls that prevent these errors from happening. A public meeting on the topic is scheduled for March.

Fluoroscopes

In an earlier communication, the FDA had indicated that fluoroscope devices would be included in this. What about the scanners which may be put into use at airport security check-points? It may be a low dose taken one at a time but heavy travelers may be affected by this.

Has anyone heard how the FDA plans to regulate dosage without taking travel intineraries into account?
