Patient safety and HIPAA compliance top the list of IT concerns for hospital-based CIOs, according to the 14th Annual HIMSS Leadership Survey conducted by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS; Chicago) and sponsored by Superior Consultant Co. (Southfield, MI). Respondents also expressed frustration with a lack of financial support, and vendors' inability to deliver products. At the annual meeting of Tyco International Inc. (Pembroke, Bermuda), on March 6, shareholders rejected a proposal to reincorporate in Delaware, where the company originated. Proponents argued that reincorporation would make the company's officers and directors more accountable.
