The
Rising Tide of Telesurgery

Robert Duggan has
been a private-venture investor for more than 25 years. He has participated
as investor, adviser, or director of many businesses, with emphasis in medical
products, computer technologies, and consumer retail goods. He is a member of
the board of trustees for the University of California, Santa Barbara Foundation,
and also serves on the university’s engineering steering committee. Career
highlights include the following.

1974: Founding
principal of the investment firm R. W. Duggan & Associates.



1985:
Receives Congressman's Medal of Merit.



1986–1993: Served on the board of directors of Government Technology Services
Inc.



1990: Joins Computer Motion as chairman of the board of directors.



1997: Named CEO of Computer Motion.



2000: Named a knight of the Legion of Honor by the French government.
