New technology bonds plastic scrap together without the need for recycling.

Posted by mddiadmin on March 1, 2002

A new process that turns plastic scrap into a new product is available from ReSyk Inc. (Brigham City, UT; 435/723-2950). Bypassing traditional recycling methods, the plastic material is not cleaned or separated, and can be processed at low temperatures. The plastics are ground into 3/8-in. pieces, then put into a compounder where they are processed into a malleable state. Without the use of bonding agents, the scrap is molded through an extrusion or compression process, and then cooled.
