The event will tackle alarm safety and other issues.
Over a four-year period, FDA received more than 500 reports of patient deaths related to alarms on monitoring devices. In an effort to help improve alarm safety, Advancing Safety in Medical Technology (AAMI) is sponsoring a conference to consider the key issues with the safety and effectiveness of medical device alarms. The event is expected to draw medical device industry representatives, clinicians, clinical engineers and technicians, academics, patient safety officers, subject experts, and other stakeholders. Attendees will help establish the priorities on issues related device alarms.
The event is scheduled for October 4-5 in Herndon, VA. More information is available from AAMI.
