Magnetic Cogging Minimized in Dc Gearmotors

Brush-commutated dc gearmotors feature 11-slot skewed armatures to minimize magnetic cogging (reluctance torque) and promote smooth, quiet operation. The Series GM8000 gearmotors can achieve peak torques to 175 oz-in. with wide-face gear options. A range of 11 standard reduction ratios, from 6.3:1 to 187.7:1, is offered. The armature reduces cogging even at low speeds, and windings are resin-impregnated, which results in enhanced reliability in incremental-motion applications.
