Inc. (Hollis, NH) assisted TransMedics Inc. (Andover, MA) in developing the Organ Care system, which is designed to maintain organs in a warm functioning state outside the human body. The portable platform, constructed of carbon fiber to meet the product's demand for strength and light weight, houses all elements of the system, including an oxygen supply and a pump used to maintain the flow of warm nutrient-rich blood to the organ. A detachable, wireless monitor that displays system functions was also integrated to allow the technician to monitor and assess the organ during transport.
